Critical Role Season Four Reveals the Warriors Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a gripping narrative featuring celestial beings, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in power within the city.

Warning: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season lie ahead.

The Warrior Group Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of heroes who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the remaining groups.

This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that keeping everyone at the same party would be unfeasible.

That’s why, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Planners, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.

Upon first impression, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these five characters are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Why They Must Go

For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with The Crow Keepers.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, invading the hidden lair, attacking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the urban center, with Cyd pursuing him.

Individual Reasons

Additionally, each character has a specific drive to exit the metropolitan area:

  • The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the region and advises that it is a hostile location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his house’s orders to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have nowhere else to go.
  • But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the group enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to Wicander for his deliverance and will now accompany him everywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a multiple motives, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The agile adventurer and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • Teor is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them little choice but to journey toward Timmony in search of the traitor.

What’s Next?

From the latest episode’s follow-up content, we discover that the warrior group will not appear the following episode, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Seekers and Schemers tables.

Fans can expect learning which characters will be where in the story’s last Overture episode, streaming live on next week.
